Mercedes, affectionately known as “Mercy”, is a young lady born and bred in Gaborone, Botswana, and passionate about leaving everything she is involved in better than she found it.
Growing up, Mercy was groomed by phenomenal women to always invest in what she believes in – ideals, principles, standards and people… one of these pillars and example of faith being her mother.
“When my mother passed away, I felt like that zeal, passion and beliefs I grew up with were not worth it. I experienced heartbreak and a deep sense of loss that causes one to question everything they thought true about themselves. Thankfully, a friend connected me with the Masulumane Foundation, and this experience renewed my hope in Christ and enabled my identity to be restored. This is what led me to volunteer with the foundation as I strongly believe that every experience one goes through serves as a betterment to one’s future or for someone else’s.”
The best thing that one can do in this world is to discover who they are and be the best of that person consistently, as this is the only way they contribute meaningfully and can help other people. As Jesus said, “I have come that ye might have life and have it more abundantly “. My hope is that my connection to this #abundantlife can be of service to someone else’s journey, particularly the youth.
